I've been home for a week and a half and one of the things that I have noticed at home is that smart has built a dealership in Warwick. Smart center produces smart cars, which are two-seater mini-cars that started as an European phenomenon which seems to have finally caught on in America. My past two months in Boston, I saw many, many Smart cars on the roads, but never on the highway. More than I have seen my past few years in Boston! Now, I haven't seen many in Rhode Island, which surprises me since there is a dealership here now.
I was interested (and clearly can't fall asleep tonight) so I did some quick googling and found the Warwick dealership's website. Click here to take a look. After being re-directed to the company's main website, I learned that the cheapest Smart car is priced at $11,590, with two other new models being priced a few thousand higher, respectfully. At the Warwick dealership, you can reserve a time to test-drive a car by making a reservation on their website. The Smart Fortwo cabriolet, I learned, is actually a convertible, which is priced a little over $16,000. Not too bad for a two-seater convertible.

Although I am not ready to purchase another car anytime in the near future (I have been making payments on a used Volvo since December 2007), it's interesting to see these little cars in the road. I never expected to see them in Boston (although my research shows that there is a smart car dealership in Boston as well!) because I figured it's too little of a car to take on the scary expressway, especially during rush hour! I've seen men driving them on Melnea Cass Blvd and Mass Ave, and I've seen pedestrians stare as they drive by. I want to hear from readers their opinions on the smart car. And maybe, once I find some time from my busy schedule, I'll make a reservation to test-drive one of the smart cars.
