Amber Alerts

I was driving to Providence and listening to Mix 98.5 when the radio, in the middle of a song, went to the "beep beep beep" format that I'm used to hearing for thunderstorm alerts. I forgot that they had another use for the radio alert as well -- Amber Alerts. The first and last time I heard an Amber Alert over the radio was a few months ago, when a six month old baby was kidnapped by its own parents, who had lost custody. I looked for a story about this, but since I don't remember the baby's name, it made it difficult.

Either way, the mother turned the baby in to a police station, and the father ran off to N.H. where he was found later, and I'm sure both are facing child endangerment charges. Today's Amber Alert is currently the only active Amber Alert in the nation. Reigh Rockefeller is a seven year old missing from Boston. She is believed to have been kidnapped by her father, Clark Rockefeller, who is in his 50s. These stories are always so sad to hear, and it's safe to say that I'd rather hear any day of the week a severe thunderstorm alert over the radio than an Amber Alert. I obviously cannot watch local boston news outlets, but I can only assume that they have been interrupting programs with information on the alert and is the top story before every news broadcast. Hopefully Reigh is found safely and returned to her loved ones.
